Bayreuth

Over the weekend we took a trip up to Bayreuth and visited an old opera house - supposedly one of the most exquisite examples in Europe! Bayreuth is famous for being the home of the composer Wagner ... this opera house wasn't good enough for him, so he had another one built up the hill for him!

Thank you, Cousin, for correcting our German. We've decided to change the title all together to avoid the problem.

Hello!

So, we've arrived! I think to say we're "settling in" would be exaggerating, but we're at least getting a feel for the city, scoping out places to live, and managing to communicate that we want nurnberger sausages to the sausage stand guy. We've made it to the autobahn (where cynthia made it up to 203 km/hr ... which is nearly 125 mph!!) in our little loner Mercedes. Hopefully within a few weeks we'll have an apartment, our stuff, and our new kitchen (bought fresh from Ikea!) We'll try to keep updating things here, and once we have a better internet connection we'll post photos of beautiful bavaria!
